Marley's Petition

No child should die from a test we forgot to give.

Sign Marley's Petition. Help us demand that pediatric Type 1 diabetes screening become standard care at every well-child visit in America.

What we're asking for

We are calling on the U.S. Congress and state legislatures to enact Marley's Law — legislation that would require pediatric Type 1 diabetes screening as part of standard well-child visits. This builds on the work of Reegan's Rule (North Carolina, 2015), the first state law to address pediatric Type 1 awareness — which was originally written to require screening before being weakened to education-only. We are continuing the fight Reegan's family started. A 30-second finger-prick blood sugar test costs pennies. A more comprehensive autoantibody screening, available at no cost to families today through programs like ASK and TrialNet, can catch Type 1 years before it becomes life-threatening. There is no medical reason this is not standard care. There is no financial reason. There is only the absence of a law requiring it. Marley's Law would close that gap.

Why this matters

40%

of U.S. children are in life-threatening DKA when Type 1 is diagnosed.

90%

of children with Type 1 have no family history. Screening only at-risk families misses them.

$0

added cost for a finger-prick test that could save a child's life.
